Default Quick Question

Hey there, sorry I didn't have time to check up the question myself in the forums but If I got Guild Wars "Factions" right now, would I be able to play quests and see the map etc.. for "Porphecies" ?

Thanks

If you own both campaigns, then you can travel by boat to both maps using characters from either chapters, so under those conditions, yes you can^^

Just go to Lions Arch or Kaineng Docks and speak to whoever is near a big boat and water :P

Also, cut out the sorry from your posts, you're allowed to ask any GW question in here, even as to ask, "what's a res sig?"

Enjoy playing GW^^!

oh I forgot to mention, make sure that when you do buy factions, that you install the key into your existing GW account (link the accounts together) and not add it in separately, otherwise you wont be able to travel across the two maps.

I don't have factions, but I'm almost positive that you can not go to the Prophecies world unless your factions access key is added to your Prophecies account.

No, you have to buy the original guild wars "prophesies" to see and play that map. Owning Factions will only let you play that content.

Strange. Why would the "Guild Wars' wesbsite then put up the download of it's latest one rather then the original. I was thinking of buying the cd-key now, but I'm rather confused and stunned.

there is only one download, you are limited in what parts of the download you can access.

And that's the "Factions" map right ? Is it worth it to get it now then ? I mean I have experience with Diablo 2 and it's expansion :P

Ahh but how do you mean ? Isn't Factions the latter, the new one ? How can I install the key into an existant GW account if I don't have the first one (Prophecies). EDIT: Or can I register for Prophecies somewhere else or something so I can link them.

sorry about that, I just assumed that you had already owned prophecies :P

Just keep in mind that both Prophecies and Factions are stand-alone games. So you can purchase one and not the other and you will still be able to play, you're just restricted from the one that you haven't purchased.

Factions is a good game. It isn't as good as Prophecies, but with Factions you get to choose from 8 different professions instead of 6.

Oh dear me, it seems this is my fault. I didn't know that I could get the cd-key and download Prophecies, I thought it was only for Factions. So it seems I'll order the key now and whilst, it will download Prophecies for me.

But I have Factions installed, and if I install Prophecies now, how will they work together ? Or shall I do as you told me to, create a new GW account on Prophecies and then (I assume create another account on GW Factions) ?

No, no, you need the CD keys of both Prophecies and Factions to play them both. Otherwise you can only play one of the campaigns. (which means you have to purchase them both if you want to play BOTH campaigns)

I'm not sure what you mean when you say that you're downloading prophecies? does it give you that option to download a specific campaign?

Well, from what I understand, you can download GW from the website but I didn't know which one it was so once it finished installing, I opened it and on the top, it said GW Factions and there is an ocean and an island in the background.

It was asking me for a serial number but I was going to buy it on "PlayNC". Little did I realize (while spending time on this forum), that it would be better if I learnt and played from Prophecies instead. So now I was just checking the "PlayNC" website and it said that, for Prophecies(and also Factions), I could download the full client and the Cd-key for a certain amount of money and there you go.

PlayNC is a website for buying cd-keys or ordering games if that's what you're wondering about

When you open GW, you'll see a "create account or add access key" right below where you type in your PW. Click on that and follow the instructions for adding a key if you want to combine Prophecies & Factions on the same account. doing this will give you a total of 6 character slots that will have access to both campaigns. If you follow the create account instrutions, you'll end up with 2 accounts with 4 slots each - 1 for Factions & 1 for Prophecies, but your characters will not be able to travel between the 2.

Simple misunderstanding, in the next month or 2, that picture will change again and it'll say Nightfall. The games all use the same client software, so ANet just updates the login screen to match the most recent chapter. Personally, I'd love it if they kept all the screens (and music) and just randomized it each time you start up.

Dargon is right. Even though it is showing a Factions log in screen, it is for either Prophecies or Factions.

Just add a GW Prophecies key to create an GW account in that log in screen to play the first chapter (Prophecies).

If down the road you want to add the other chapter, just enter that log in screen again and "add" the next chapters key to your account to "merge" them and play your characters in both lands.

So to clarify, there is only 1 download that contains both chapters. You can get either chapters's keys and play either one from that same download. You can also get both keys and merge them onto 1 account and play both together. Or finally, if you have no desire to ever travel back and forth between the different lands, you can keep your keys separate (separate accounts), but this is rare for people to choose.

you dont actually download any factions or prophesies but the guild wars client software which allows you to play IF you have a key. The key for factions will allow you to play factions content on your downloaded client, and the 'original' key will grant access to all prophesies material. IF you put both keys on the same account (merged) all your characters will have access to both campains, but you could make seperate factions only account and prophesies only account. once you create a new account with a key or add the key to an existing account, there is pretty much no going back though.
